Anna loved to collect antiques. She had a passion for old furniture, paintings, jewelry and books. She often visited flea markets and thrift stores to find rare and valuable items. One day, she came across a large wooden mirror in a dusty corner of an antique shop. It had a carved frame with intricate patterns and a smooth glass surface that reflected her face. She was instantly drawn to it and asked the shopkeeper how much it was.
"It's yours for fifty bucks," he said. "But I have to warn you, it's haunted."
"Haunted?" Anna laughed. "Don't be silly. There's no such thing as ghosts."
"Suit yourself," he shrugged. "But don't say I didn't warn you."
Anna paid him the money and took the mirror home. She hung it on the wall of her bedroom, admiring how it looked in the light. She felt a strange connection to the mirror, as if it was calling out to her.
That night, she had a nightmare. She dreamed that she was standing in front of the mirror, but instead of seeing her own reflection, she saw a pale woman with long black hair and dark eyes staring back at her. The woman had a twisted smile on her face and whispered in a raspy voice: "You're mine now."
Anna woke up screaming and sweating. She looked at the mirror and saw nothing but her own terrified face. She tried to calm herself down and told herself it was just a bad dream.
The next day, she noticed something odd about the mirror. It seemed to have a slight crack on the edge of the frame that wasn't there before. She wondered if she had damaged it somehow during transport or installation.
She decided to ignore it and went about her day as usual.
But that night, she had another nightmare.
She dreamed that she was in front of the mirror again, but this time the woman was closer to her, reaching out with her bony fingers towards Anna's face.
"You can't escape me," she hissed. "I'm coming for you."
Anna woke up with a scream and jumped out of bed. She looked at the mirror and saw that the crack had grown bigger and spread across the frame.
She felt a surge of fear and ran out of her bedroom.
She decided to get rid of the mirror as soon as possible.
The next morning, she called the antique shop where she bought it from and asked if they would take it back.
"Sorry lady," the shopkeeper said. "No refunds or exchanges."
"But this mirror is cursed!" Anna cried.
"I told you so," he said smugly.
"Please," Anna begged. "You have to help me."
"No can do," he said firmly.
He hung up on her.
Anna felt hopeless and desperate.
She tried to sell or donate or even trash the mirror but no one would take it from her.
Every night, she had worse nightmares than before.
The woman in the mirror became more aggressive and violent towards Anna each time.
